Gulf Shores & Orange Beach: Thirty-two Miles of White Sand

The stretch from Gulf Shores to Orange Beach offers a steady parade of white sand and gentle waves, perfect for summer days. By late August, the beach crowds have thinned, leaving more space for families with younger kids to enjoy the shallower waters. Wild sunflowers bloom along the coastal paths, adding splashes of yellow and orange against the backdrop of turquoise seas. The Beach is Only Steps Away (F2) condo provides a prime spot just beyond the dunes; it’s a cozy place for eight, directly on the beach.

After setting up camp, head to nearby Dauphin Island State Park for some birdwatching or take a leisurely stroll through downtown Gulf Shores. A paperback from the harbor bookshop might be just the thing to keep your mind occupied while you watch the sunset over the water.
