Nantucket, a Cobblestone Island

August on Nantucket means high season; the island's cobblestone cottages are filled with sunburned travelers seeking the finest beaches and the cooler temperatures of midsummer. The Sea Lion offers a perfect view of the sea from its four spacious bedrooms, but the real allure is stepping onto the beach to watch the waves roll in, perhaps after sipping iced lemonade at one of the quaint harbor cafes.

After landing, head straight for Squire’s or Maria's Vineyard for a taste of local hospitality; Nantucket has much to offer beyond its charming cottages.
